This 16-hour Wilderness First Aid course is designed to introduce you to the concepts of medical care in a wilderness setting. Times and dates will be determined by individual Scout Troops and Crews. PRE-REQUISITE: Students must be at least 14 years of age (to be certified, but may attend/audit if younger for no charge) and be currently certified in CPR/AED from a recognized source. It is recommended that students are fully pre-certified in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED.

The 16-hour Wilderness First Aid course is designed to introduce you to the concepts of medical care in a wilderness setting. The course focuses on skills, practice and realistic scenarios through hands-on skills and simulations to teach you scene and patient assessment, basic and advanced first aid techniques, CPR, AED and basic life support skills, minor trauma, environmental topics, allergic and toxic reactions, wound care, bandaging (classic and improvised), bone and joint injuries, splinting, head and spine injuries (assessment and decision making) and other “common” medical emergencies. The course follows the recommended curriculum set forth by the Wilderness Medical Society and fulfills the requirements for the Boy Scouts of America and most other organizations. Prerequisite: Adult CPR certification. If necessary, you may take the online CPR class and conduct the hands on "Skills Check" during this class for no extra charge. Visit https://iccs.matrixlms.com/instructor_modules/list/592867 to sign up for this online CPR course. However, it is highly recommended you take the Standard First Aid, CPR and AED course to prepare for the Wilderness First Aid Course. If you do so, the hands on "Skills Check" will be provided during this class free of charge.
